In case you've been a hermit in hiding over the past few months (nee, nearly a year if you're a nerd like us), then you're unaware that eveything is coming up Delphic. Being that the Manchester dudes are producing some of the most expertly crafted etherealectro, major institutions are beiginning to take note of what many a blogger has been heralding as the best new music.

That said, Delphic isn't leaving the bros of the blogworld behind. The debut single off their upcoming album, Acolyte, is the wondrously soaring and instantly repeatable, Doubt. The stems for the song are being offered up for free for anyone who wants to throw their hat into the remix ring.

Here's the catch. You'll have to do a bit of bloghopping to get all the stems. Parts are available at the following: Neon Gold, Big Stereo, Electrorash, Fucking Dance, Hot Biscuits, The Mix Tape, Too Many Sebastians, and Trash Menagerie.

Or you can just stay put...and gobble up the below tracks. Options are rad!

Delphic's Acolyte is out January 11 via Polydor.

This put such a beaming smile on my face this morning that it simply must be shared. Florence and the Machine continue to entrance, even if it is for a fake 1963 French television audience. How so? Read on!

The Belgian beer, Stella Artois, recently snagged Florence to film a, lets call it, fake television appearance, profiling the prolific singer. The performance of You've Got the Love takes place on what is titled/described as follows.

Please enjoy: Live from 1963 and introducing the electronic guitar, Alain du Monde presents the sound of the future...Florence + Le Machine!

So we've got a Brit, performing on fake French programming, as commissioned by the Belgians. Somehow, Florence seems to fit in quite perfectly with this era, don't you agree?

Rad!

Plastiscines - Bitch (new video!)

Posted In: , , , , . By Sheena Beaston

One band we've been hot (without really writing a ton) on for a good portion of the year is Plastiscines. The French foursome of femme fatales are all things punk, thrash, glam and basically, what we're trying to say, is that they're the raddest chicks on the scene.

With their sophomore album, About Love, coming out earlier this summer, we had every reason to shout, scream and sing along with Katty, Marine, Louise and Anoushka. Collectively referred to as les bébés rockers, they fall right in line with a number of Parisian bands that bestill our beastly hearts.

The girls just released the video for their song, Bitch, yesterday, and you can watch it right here.

Raging! We always get a little more excited every time a bit of news and or new content comes out of Plastiscines brash camp, and until new material is released, we've got this vid and the below mixes on a major repetitive cycle.

The second half of 2009 has definitely fit nicely into the pocket of one, Amanda Blank. With her solo debut album, I Love You, seeing release, a bevy of videos, singles and remixes spewing forth, a tour alongside the queen of electroclash seems befitting of Blank's rise to international notoriety.

First up, the fine folks over at Grandcrew recently updated their stash of video selections with footage from this year's July 4 Eurockéennes de Belfort celebration in France. Blank took the stage, to what many considered an introduction to her new material. After having seen her live performance 4 times this year, it's safe to say that this video is a great representation of what's in store for her remaining 2009 dates.

Watch the lass, backed by power duo, Devlin and Darko, below.

Did you catch those transitions? The Missy Elliott hits make me love it a little more with each view/listen.

And in case you were wondering were you can find dates for Peaches' year long tour, with this leg being supported by Amanda Blank, well, those are here. You better believe this Beastly butt will be in attendance, comeplete with a change of clothes post sweatfest.

Three of the bands featured on Kitsuné Maison 8 recently swung by the offices of MySpace for an intimately awesome jam session, in quite the tiniest of spaces. No big though...the sound is still big!

Kitsuné took over the office, inviting Chew Lips, My Tiger My Timing, and Crystal Fighters over to show the 'Space cadets what they're working with. Check out the video below.

This just further enhances my love for all things Chew Lips. And hey, we're still on board with all things based around the other two acts as well!

Holy 'hiti, we've got a ton of good news to bring you from the camp of Tahiti 80. With a new album on the way, there's a ton of cool new stuff floating around, so we thought it best to compile it all in one massive post for you.

Long the admirers of the French outfit, the group's core revolves around pop eccentricities with a flair for all things soul, funked out and totally groovy. While their first album came out over 10 years ago, it wasn't until their sophomore effort, Wallpaper for the Soul, hit in 2002 that I became a "total Tahiti head".

And now, with a new album, Activity Center, due out November 24, we're slightly on the geeking out side of excitement! The troupe recently released a video for the single, Unpredictable, which can be streamed here. (sidenote: hey labels, just let us embed vids, m'kay?)

We've also got the mp3 of Unpredictable, a remix of All Around (of which the original comes off the upcoming album), and one of our favorite Tahiti 80 tracks of all time. Grab all those below this short list of upcoming live dates the band where the band will be performing.

October 29 - Scopitone (Paris, France)
November 5 - Troubadour (Los Angeles, CA)
November 7 - Mercury Lounge (New York, NY)

Do we geek out for new tunes on Kitsuné komps? Hell yeah, we do and we're not ashamed to admit it. And with the eighth iteration coming up, we've got every reason to get nerdaliciouly needy and salivate at the thought of the tracks within.

Thankfully, we've got a jam that features two of the artists that appear on the compilation to give to you...oh you know, for free.

Courtesy of the Bangor boys, Two Door Cinema Club, you have every reason to get your Friday started on the right foot. And with a bit of bumping up from Stateside sons, French Horn Rebellion, you can turn those feet into floor stomping danceshoe wearing appendages.

Here's the official tracklist for Kitsuné 8, due out November 30.

1. French Horn Rebellion – Up All Night
2. The Drums – Let’s Go Surfing
3. Siriusmo – High Together
4. Le Corps Mince de Françoise – Something Golden
5. Midnight Juggernauts – This New Technology
6. Heartsrevolution – Dance Till Dawn
7. Logo – Junocide
8. Two Door Cinema Club – I Can Talk (Moulinex Remix)
9. Slagsmålsklubben – Brutal Weapons
10. Beni - Maximus (Harvard Bass Remix)
11. AMWE – Friction Between The Lovers
12. Jolie Cherie – Star
13. Chew Lips – Salt Air (Alex Kapranos Remix)
14. Delphic – This Momentary
15. Memory Tapes – Bicycle

19. Crystal Fighters – I Love London
20. My Tiger My Timing – I Am The Sound

There's nothing quite like a hot cup of coffee and some dreamy discopop to start your Friday off. And who better to do it with than Billboard's Woman of the Year, Beyonce. Of course, she's got a tiny bit of help from the French devil himself, Alan Braxe.

In typical Braxe fashion, Ms. Knowles' Broken Hearted Girl gets a wash of glittery handclap-filled rubdowns that will make you weak in the knees as soon as the first note hits. With a set of super wet basslines, Alan shifts this radio friendly stunner from Top 40 to Studio 54.

Beaston approved!

Broken-Hearted Girl, as well as the I Am…Sasha Fierce (Platinum Edition) will be released on November 2 through MusicWorld/RCA.

We finally got a break from both the inclement weather and the long hours we've been putting in at work this past Wednesday. We jumped ship fairly early [read=6pm] to run down to the Seaport to catch French indie poprockers, The Teenagers, play a free set as part of the Bicycle Film Festival.

Starting promptly at 7pm, [an hour we had long since forgotten shows starting at!], Quentin Delafon, Michael Szpiner and Dorian Dumont launched into a poptastic good time with a set of fan favorites that included crowd singalongs, balloon bashing and onstage antics from both the band and fans alike.

Singer Delafon spent 75% of the set in the crowd, which, we have to admit, was a bit far away from the stage. According to my concert companion Anthony, from Tastes Like Caramel, who is a staunch supporter of the Frenchies, most of The Teenagers' sets are frentically filled with fans on stage and an intensely intimate performance with sweat and song.

We were not left without the interaction though, as Delafon motioned for us to join him onstage for a rousing rendition of the crowd pleaser, Homecoming. The barely longer than half hour set was the perfect way to end an early night, or so we thought.

The Teenagers dj'd at Studio B later that evening [read=1:00am], and we simply couldn't pass it up. Highlight? Delafon spinning Kylie Minogue's In My Arms and catching my gleeful eye as we turned the space into a sweatstorm.

What is this about Sweden's Robyn and France's Yelle in a boy vs girl song title cover faceoff? Did that make sense? Read on for a clearer explanation.

Today marks the release of an iTunes digital split as part of their Foreign Exchange Series, in which 2 artists cover each other's songs. As mentioned above, Yelle tackles Robyn's Who's That Girl, with the aptly titled Qui Est Cette Fille.

In return, Robyn gets all boy crazy with her cover of Yelle's A Cause Des Garcons, for an English version titled Because Of Boys.

Basically, you've got the queens of spaztastically awkward dancepop music pairing up and dominating Tuesday's iTunes release. And we couldn't be more pumped with the output. That said, go BUY it here.

In the meantime, we're pleased to give you a lower quality mp3 of the Yelle track, so you can hear exacty what we're raving about it. God, we're good to you.

One of the most genuinely nice and honest-to-good-guy bloggers/sites is thecultureofme. So when he posted this track earlier this week, a quick tweet went out directed at me, with his ntoation that I was really gonna dig this one. And boy oh boy, was he ever right. We held off for 4 days, but now, we lovingly borrow from the lad.

[no picture for this post...still setting up the laptop]

Digikid84 comes to us from France, riding a wave of nostalgic electro hip-fop that makes my knees weak. Borrowing a super sultry vocal set from NYC artist, Blackshere, the track Love Spell, I had only wished I heard this before the Best Song to Bang To post, cause, um yeah...this joint is hotter than hot!

Introducing: The Bloody Sisters

Posted In: , , , , . By Sheena Beaston

The Bloody Sisters are neither covered in platelets, nor are the females of the same birth parents. What they are, however, is a band based in Paris exclusively composed of men.

TBS recently sent over a couple of really great mixes of songs you already know and love. Great thing about their spin on each of these is that they differ from mixes you've already heard.

As expected, I'm super mondo crushing on the Extraball mix, as they add a whole new level of bassy goodness to the track. Empire of the Sun, well, you've also just been bloodied up, and it hurts so good!

Terrible

WOW.

Self-fellate much?

I'm over Justice and have been for quite some time. Honestly, how many times have you seen us post about 'em? On my last count, 'twas ZERO posts dedicated to them. Sure a random remix popped up in a compilation post here or there. (read=2) (and no, that doesn't stop me from posting a remix of theirs...we could use a few more hits around here)

Go on and throw your judgemental rocks and stares at me now.

mp3: Jimmy Cliff - No Justice
mp3: Fatboy Slim - Dont Let the Man (Justice Remix)

Miss Kittin rarely makes appearances in NYC. And even more exclusive, is the addition of her producer, The Hacker. Tonight, Irving Plaza will be graced with the French phenom. If you haven't already gotten your tickets, do so here. (16+ show and doors at 8pm)

Earlier this year, Miss Kittin put out her second solo album, Batbox, which followed her critically hailed debut, I COM. My 2 favorite tracks are below, but the entire album is easily one of my favorites of the year to date.

mp3: Miss Kittin - Barefoot Tonight

(We can't make the show tonight, but if any of you are going, if you'd like to take pictures or write a review, please email them here. We'll credit you and send you a prize, no doubt!)

As In, This is Really Beyond Great

Posted In: , , , . By Sheena Beaston

As In RebekkaMaria is the solo project of RebekkaMaria Andersson, of the Danish-Swedish band Lampshade.

I can't even begin to tell you how upset I am that I let this one fall by the wayside. There is a vulnerability in her songwriting while all sorts of electronic tiddlybits are arranged behind her words. It makes for quite the treat.

To describe her sound, this is what came about:
Raised with lots of music, nature, family love, travelling, dancing/acting, writing, reading, drawing....This will be the first tunes on solo legs.

Sweet as in wine
Happy as in jazz
Cocky as in classy
Flirty as in dirty
Uptight as in bitch
Arty as in kindergarden
Honest as in married
Coming as in home

Go be her friend on the Space, and listen to key tracks She Lion and Noreen. We're loving Yours Truly, and now you can too.

Yelle - Ce Jeu - Video Teaser

Posted In: , . By Sheena Beaston

Yelle created one of the most danceable and hypercolored videos of the year so far with Je Veux te Voir.

So we got a little more than excited when a teaser for her new video, Ce Jeu, dropped in our inbox this morning. Directed by Yoann Lemoine and styled by Jean Paul Lespagnard, the snappy song looks to have a video that will match its quirky charm.

It Must Be Nice to Be a Low Life

Posted In: , , . By Sheena Beaston

Got a note from Carmine Filthy of Low Life, Inc. yesterday. Included within said email was a package of delights that I'm happy to share with you.

MTO, otherwise known by the moniker, Alexandre Delaunay, was born in France became heavily influenced when first laying eyes/ears on Wu-Tang Clan on MTV and realized that was the music he wanted to play. He began making his own beats using old tapes and his dad’s old turntable.

Eventually, he found his way and started to produce beats for several local hip hop groups. Over time his own style developed and shifted towards making more abstract hip hop, finding a balance between hip hop and electro sounds and signed his first record to the German label Roxour. In 2007 he was discovered by Coco Machete Records in New York and is set to release his next single Bring It On Now with remixes from Remote (Kill The DJ) and Hatchmatik from Montreal.

Without further ado, here is the original track, aslong with the remixes for your enjoyment.

mp3: MTO - Bring it On Now (Original Mix)
mp3: MTO - Bring it On Now (Hatchmatik Remix) and MTO - Bring it On Now (Remote Remix)

(once again, the internet gods have struck me down and i'm finding it difficult to get mp3's posted. so if you want the 2 remixes, hit me up here and i'll send 'em your way.)

Any excuse to post an Anchorman quote. Sure, why not!

I've been having trouble sleeping, so lately, I throw on my iPod and lay it on down. (which apparently is mad dangerous, seeing as how slumber and cords near necklines don't mix so hot.)

This morning around 2:25am I was slightly jarred from my lucid state when a Yelle track came on, sounding oddly familiar to Je Veux te Voir, I snapped into full consciousness and recognized the song Jogging. (the only decipherable title for me on her album)

I quite fancy the track, so I put on the rest of her album and tried having it lull me to a deep sleep. It didn't work, seeing as how another favorite of mine, Dans Ta Vraie Vie had me shoulder bouncing whilst attempting rem.

So, there you have it. Since I'm awake at ungodly hour, why not make the most of it and share?
