We finally got a break from both the inclement weather and the long hours we've been putting in at work this past Wednesday. We jumped ship fairly early [read=6pm] to run down to the Seaport to catch French indie poprockers, The Teenagers, play a free set as part of the Bicycle Film Festival.
Starting promptly at 7pm, [an hour we had long since forgotten shows starting at!], Quentin Delafon, Michael Szpiner and Dorian Dumont launched into a poptastic good time with a set of fan favorites that included crowd singalongs, balloon bashing and onstage antics from both the band and fans alike.
Singer Delafon spent 75% of the set in the crowd, which, we have to admit, was a bit far away from the stage. According to my concert companion Anthony, from Tastes Like Caramel, who is a staunch supporter of the Frenchies, most of The Teenagers' sets are frentically filled with fans on stage and an intensely intimate performance with sweat and song.
We were not left without the interaction though, as Delafon motioned for us to join him onstage for a rousing rendition of the crowd pleaser, Homecoming. The barely longer than half hour set was the perfect way to end an early night, or so we thought.
The Teenagers dj'd at Studio B later that evening [read=1:00am], and we simply couldn't pass it up. Highlight? Delafon spinning Kylie Minogue's In My Arms and catching my gleeful eye as we turned the space into a sweatstorm.
