Long hot on the Beaston tip is New York's talented trio, MEN. Spearheaded by Le Tigre member JD Samson, you've no doubt come across my continual rants and raves of this visually and aurally creative experience.

My actual viewing of MEN's live show, however, was long overdue...until Friday, October 9 at Terminal 5. Playing the middle set directly after Apache Beat (see review here) and before the hotly anticipated set by powerhouse, Gossip, MEN took the stage, fully prepared to ensure that their broadcasting of socially relevant ideals shone through their unique blend of electropop.

Delicately balancing the artistic with the advocational, MEN easily transformed their lyrically relevant jams without coming across as overtly preachy. A sense of fun and lightheartedness was on display, as Samson demanded the attention and respect of all concertgoers.

Coursing through fan favorites Make it Reverse, Off Our Backs, Simutaneously and Credit Card Babie$, the troupe of skilled musicians enlisted crowd participation with large cardboard cutouts, both on and off stage.

MEN continue on tour with Gossip through October 27 before joining the hardest touring woman of 2009, Peaches. I can't urge you enough to check them out...definitely a must-see.
