I'm Proud to Be the Home...of a Y Chromosome*
We'll regroup to the post title at the end of our post, but in the meantime, KMBS directs us to a great piece on Defamer today.
7 MTV-Defining Stars Who Wouldn't Be Allowed on MTV Anymore hits the nail on the head with a mix of television programming, personalities and fonts, yes fonts, that would not be caught dead on [M]TV anymore.
1. Can we just say how much we used to respect Tabitha Soren? Sure to raise eyebrows, she was a bastion of knowledge and puts all those newbies to shame.
2. Daria marathons got us through many a long Saturday shacked up at home.
3. Kabel typeface used to intro and outro every single video. Being a graphic designer, we are a freak for fonts. Yes, we saw the documentary and the exhibit dedicated to Helvetica. And we freakin' LOVED it.
Visit Defamer for the rest of the list. Read on in their comments too...good stuff.
* OK, back to the post title. If you were a Daria freak like me, bro and sis were, you'll recognize that line from Daria! The Musical episode. Trent and Daria's dad were singing about how awesome men were, hence the line, "I'm proud to be the home, of a Y chromosome". Sad part about this all. There is a bar in the city that marks the restrooms with either "XX" or "XY", and in various states of inebriation, I always have to sing that song in my head to know which one to enter. I lead a very thrilling life, don't I?
