If Paris Ever Really Does Start Burning, I Hope the Flames Crackle in Time With the Beat
One of Sheena Beaston's favorite offerings from 2007 was the tidy little ditty from St. Vincent, Paris is Burning.
Now, we have newcomer Ladyhawke putting forth an effort of the same title. Not a cover, completely different vibe, but equally as pleasant.
Let's compare and contrast, shall we?
Ladyhawke
• Poppy, synth beat
• Cowbell
• Silky, smooth vocals
• Retro, mod feel
• Best lyric: "My heart is dreaming, but Paris is screaming..."
St. Vincent
• Melodic, dark track
• Haunting, almost whispery at times vocals
• Cello
• Best lyric: "We are waiting on a telegram, to give us, news on the war..."
Thoughts? Being the indecisive, schizophrenically challenged music appreciator that I am, I waffle back and forth with which I prefer. All depends on the mood. Leave comments and discuss.
