Curse of the Rick Astley affliction alert! Although I wouldn't call it so much a curse as it is a beautiful little mind screw. (you know....a super powerful soul voice that looks as though it doesn't belong to the body containing said golden pipes)

Jamie Lidell is a musician and soul singer on the Warp Records label. Lidell is known for layering tracks made with his voice into a microphone, performing the percussion and melody as a sequenced beatboxing one-man band. Then over his cloned voices, he sings soul-inspired songs. This technique makes for energetic live performances, as well as tracks that have begun to infiltrate mainstream and middle America.

His song, Multiply, was used on Grey's Anatomy (gag), as well as on its second soundtrack. He often collaborates with Canadian musicians such as Gonzales, Feist and Mocky.

Jamie Lidell plays the Bowery Ballroom on June 8th and 9th, 2008.
