Amanda Blank Proves She is Something Bigger and Better at the Paper Magazine Party
With a career that's consisted of guesting on other's tracks, and opening for friends on larger scale tours, it was a treat to seem Amanda Blank perform a solo set at the Paper Magazine Party last night in Brooklyn. And with her debut album, I Love You, finally seeing a release date in less than a week (August 4th!), the show was a great launching pad for her new material.
Starting off with album highlight, Something Bigger Something Better, Blank spewed and spit filth over a banging beat that included glocks popping and shouting out "this is for my ladies who got that cash, who know how to swing their hips fast!"
With a set lasting no longer than 25 minutes, Blank powered through tracks from her solo debut including: Make It Take It, A Love Song, and a soulfully sung intro to Might Like You Better, before cranking up the speed and beat to the original flavor.
Blank is currently about to hit up a handful of dates with Yeah Yeah Yeahs before continuing on her solo tour.
Amanda Blank's I Love You is out via Downtown on August 4, 2009.
