If you're a frequenter of the site, then you'll be well aware of my penchant for early 80s Italo Disco tracks. So, on occasion, we like to dive through our archives, and present you with an artist or track from the genre that you may not be aware of. Today, it's all about La Bionda, and dadgum, this is one of my most favorite acts of the scene.


Carmelo and Michelangelo La Bionda were two of the most active artists in the Italian electronic music in the late 70s and early 80s. They released songs under the names La Bionda and D. D. Sound.

I Wanna Be Your Lover was a single that La Bionda released in Belgium in 1980. The B-side, Action, accompanied the immediately catchy tune. There's a great electronic element to Lover, and with the addition of some whispery male vocals, hand claps, snaps, and particularly well-placed keyboard hits, it's no wonder I fell so easily in love with it upon first listen many moons ago.
