Sometimes, even the largest luster of everything electrodancepop related needs to take a step back, reel it in and just chill out with a classic voice and sound. Such is the case today, in which we have fallen in love with a lad from Boston that warmed the tightest cockles of my heart.
Will Dailey has been around for a few years, yet, his latest venture is sure to put the songwriter/wordsmith on your radar in 2009. His debut solo album, GoodbyeRedBullet, was released in 2004, financed by Dailey selling his car.
This year's efforts are done a bit more by the book.
Dailey will be digitally releasing an EP every three months, each of which will be thematic collections. [god, I love lists and themes, so this hits home for me like no other!] The first, Fashion Of Distraction, finds influences '60s and early '70s sounds, particularly The Byrds. The second EP, By the Blue Hills, is Boston-ified, pairing Dailey with Boston musicalities and friends. These two EPs will then be paired as a physical album, Torrent, Volumes 1 & 2, complete with bonus tracks.
Check out Will Dailey doing a Tears For Fears cover in the vid below, then go on and grab a track for free too.
Will Dailey plays Mercury Lounge in NYC at 8pm on Wednesday, May 20th. Grab a ticket here.
