Diana Est
I'm kind of obsessed with Diana Est lately. Who is she? She was an Italian new wave artist, active mostly between 1982 and 1984.
1. Check out how desirable her matchy matchy outfit/boots combo is in this [non-embeddable] video!
2. Her songs feel relevant today, although I have NO idea what she's saying.
3. Again, peep the below vid...she can pack a frickin' stadium!
4. She was Italy's La Roux, before La Roux was even born. View that angle cut!
By the way, there are like NO images of her, hardly any information and that's all unfortunate. I'm new to her sounds as of about a month ago, so if anyone knows anything else by Diana Est that you're willing to share, please let me know.
My fave track so far is Le Louvre with it's driving bass line and hooky synths...hook a sister up!

Hey I love this blog - especially the name!! And I love Italo Disco.
in italy she was a quite famous "italo new wave" singer in the early eighties. She made just three 45RPMs (Tenax 1982 - Le Louvre 1983 and Diamanti 1984) then she quit... She found out that the jet-set of that era was too much "spoiled"; she felt like some kind of a marionette in the music businesses hands. So she lost interest about music.
Nowadays her songs (Tenax above all) are still played in several famous clubs of Milan and abroad also. Today Diana Est (46 yo) is still living in Milan with husband & sons, she works as an antiquarian.
The most interesting thing is that, after 1984, she didn't wanted to make any public appearance on TV/radio/magazines...
She made a small interview on Radio Popolare in 2004, were she also "totally refused" to sing one of her songs.
Diana Est said that she's not ashamed about her previous career, but today she's just another person with different goals.
PS: hope it helps, please forget my mistakes since english is not my mother tongue;)
Something to say?
