We hit up Cof Cof's US debut performance last night at Public Assembly, and with it, we caught the set by openers, Shock Cinema.

With a style that evokes the spirit of post-punk legends Siouxsie and the Banshees, Shock Cinema puts on a show chock full of frenetically energized noir rock. Frontwoman Destiny Montague commands the stage while band mates strum and drum as though making love to their instruments.

We were wildly impressed with the Brooklyn group's dynamic. Their tight synchronization and haunting sounds made us forget, for a moment, that we were in fact there to catch a different act. But that's what makes the mark of a band on the rise.

Shock Cinema plays Rehab on Friday, August 22 @ 10pm. You can snag their debut album, Hell and Highwater here.
