I know from previous posts and all y our responses that September isn't your favorite artist that I feature here. But I have an eternal flame burning for her in the hopes she catches on.

Which she is. Slowly but surely. Check it.

Petra Marklund's single "Cry for You" describes a woman scorned, but U.S. audiences are feeling just the opposite about the Swedish dance songstress, aka September. Marklund has already released albums in Europe, but released her first album in the 'States, "September," this February.

Thanks to plays on Top 40 U.S. Radio stations, "Cry for You" has reached No. 42 on the Billboard Pop 100, previously at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay in 2007 for two weeks. What her audience might not know is that her breakthrough song "La la la (Never give it up)" off her Swedish debut album "In Orbit," paved the way for the singer at the age of 18 in Sweden.

With a musical family at her side, Marklund grew up singing on stage at the mere age of three alongside her mother. She was a triple-threat -- singing, dancing, and playing the guitar -- by the age of eight. "For me, everything has been very natural," explains the singer, 23.

Her determination to achieve greater success paid off when she met her manager and "soul mate" Victoria Ekebert during the early stages of her career. Ekebert opened many doors for this singer, one of them introducing her to producer Jonas von der Burg (Ace of Base).

"Instead of just making up a voice that anyone could imitate or making up a very beautiful voice with a deeper emotional quality, it's very important for me to find what represents me in the song and makes the song my own. And I think we have found each other in the right way," Marklund says of her collaboration with von der Burg.

On "Dancing Shoes," September's latest album, von der Burg was able to cull from her "a great mixture of disco, dance music, and different styles in pop music... Everything is disco, but I think some parts are really 80s and some parts are more up to date today."

Fans outside of the U.S. can look forward to the release of September's new single "Because I Love You" in late fall this year. The track is expected to be released in Australia, Europe, Asia, Brazil, Japan.

Beyond that, Marklund hopes to accomplish her goals by furthering her success across Europe and the U.S. "I'm hoping to really make it in the [Billboard] Hot 100. That's my first goal right now and everything else can wait."
