Doesn't that post sound like something out of an overplayed radio rap? Or at the very least, a tasty acoutrement to Kelis' Milkshake?

THINK AGAIN.

Alan Wilkis is neither a rapper, nor is he Kelis' alter ego. Simply put, he is a man of many talents.

Taking charge of all vocal, instruments and production, Wilkis found the perfect recipe for allowing the soothing sounds of the seventies and bubbly beats of the eighties to reside in utter harmony. With a genre he describes as "Prince meets Boston", it's safe to say those 3 words are magic to my ears.

Wilkis' solo debut, Babies Dream Big, is the ultimate testament to "genre bed-hopping". Which is totally cool with me. And should be for you too. Here's why. Tracks range in style from the bluesy and soulful I Wanna Know, to the uber-electropoppy Milk and Cookies culminating with a nod to a very Prince-esque shaker bass line in It's Been Great.

And to help spread the word, Neon Coyote put together a sugary summer mix of tasty tunes. The mix is also one of genre hopping, including: The Cool Kids, Britney Spears, Justice, Hot Chip, Lykke Li, and of course, Milk and Cookies by Wilkis. You can snag the mix below.

Alan Wilkis' album, Babies Dream Big, can be purchased here.
