Say all you want about the instant masterpiece that is Santogold's debut self-titled album. I'd have to credit the superior lyrics, production and overall emotion of the album to being one of learned life experiences rather than an overnight sensation.
I've posted many many times on how much I love it, and every time I listen to the album , I find new little intricacies that intrigue the bejeezus out of me.
One of these newfound delights is actually the entire track Anne.
In favor of the uptempo Unstoppable and Say Aha, I would generally listen to Anne for a couple of seconds and head right back to the moneymaker shakers. It's in my nature to be in constant states of motion and dancing around like an idiot.
The more chilled out track is one I'm holding near and dear to my heart right now. With one chorus, she confirmed that my previously public outpouring of support I had for her which I was slightly embarrassed about has since gone by the wayside. I'll scream it from the hilltops...
J,J,Jesus pieces / rescue me / the more I try / the more it gets too complicated
