What a find! If you come across a tune that has the words "Yesiree, the whole world...should revolve around me..." and it has that sort of Motown beat with silky vocals, then you go right ahead and you make that a personal anthem of your own!

And then you come to find out...half of Little Jackie is actually Imani Coppola. And you couldn't be more pleased that Imani is making her grand re-entrance into the music world.

Blend the old-school R&B sound with a quirky hybrid of hip-hop and pop and you get Little Jackie, the creation of genre-defying singer-songwriter Imani Coppola and programmer Adam Pallin. With a nod to the soulful Motown rhythms of the past and a sneer to many of the social and cultural issues that consume the public today, Coppola has crafted an album of musical sugar and spice, filled with sweet, saccharine-tinged melodies and spicy, bold commentaries. My ears were quite pleased when I brushed upon this page today. At first, I thought, ok, another Winehouse-esque, Lauryn Hill vibe-ish thing going on. But Coppola's voice mixed with Pallin's techniques make for a severely soothing sound. And I was immediately hooked.

This is the kind of music that is vital. Poetic and purely appreciated for listenable value, yet making a statement while moving rears on the dancefloors, the future looks bright for Little Jackie.
