One of the first concerts I went to upon moving to New York City was The Dresden Dolls at Bowery Ballroom. The show was on Halloween. Still being somewhat green to both city living and the Drezzies, I had fully expected chunky girls in corsets and face paint followed around by boys in skinny ties, bowler hats and, well, more face paint. I was not disappointed.

In actuality, great effing concert. Amanda came out dressed as Britney Spears and did a jaunty cover of ...Baby, One More Time. Their original songs were equally as cochlear-ly soothing.

Jumping over to Stereogum this morning, I was attracted to the post on The Dresden Dolls. Apparently, next month they will release No, Virginia..., a collection of unheard material from the Yes, Virginia... sessions along with b-sides, compilation contributions, and previously unreleased tracks.

Stereogum has the exclusive new track Night Reconnaissance available for download in The 'Gum Drop here. Or you can stream it below. (along with a favorite track of mine from their self-titled debut album)

The Dresden Dolls play the Music Hall of Williamsburg this Saturday, April 26. 18+ show. Appearing with Major General, featuring Franz Nicolay.
