The rhythm is gonna getcha...the rhythm is gonna getcha...

Must let you all in on a hot little nugget of music genius.

Matt Logan is a Peabody trained musician and song writer. He is classically trained and classically awesome. He’s also practically a member of my family, but that’s neither here nor there.

Logan plays cello within the trio of musicians known as “kate with matt and ben.”

Currently, one of his side projects has jumped into my heart, danced on my carotid artery and let the dance pulse explode within me.

Snazz Mammoth is classified as Electronic/Baroque/Classical. Sounds delicious. And it is.

The self-titled “Snazz Mammoth” mixes cello, guitar, wild beats and electronic tidbits. Comparisons have been made to early New Order and the like. Upon playing this song for a friend who is a mainly a fan of hip-hop and mainstream club music, he proclaimed, “This..this is......this is like dance rock.....and I love it!!!”

The aptly titled “445am” makes me think of nonsensical dreams I have at the wee hours before daybreak. But it makes so much sense. His voice comes across so clear, yet so haunting. The rising guitar/cello sequence starting around the 1:07 mark of the song cuts me to the core. The reverb/feedback is no mistake in this song...it adds a depth to anyone who has experienced a relationship with a “sugarcake, honeypie.”

Hand claps always get me too. What can I say. I’m a sucker for them.

If anything, listen from 4:00 on til the end of this song. (only about 35 seconds....I think you can spare that) So simple, but his composition background shows. Tremendously.

Logan writes and records every aspect of these songs in his minute abode on the outskirts of l’island Manhattan. He can frequently be seen playing with “kate with matt and ben” as well as at other venues performing as Snazz Mammoth. Highly suggest you checking his work out.
